About the Presenter:
Name: Inge Aivas Current position: PGY-5 Radiation Oncology, Western University, Canada Email: Inge Aivas will complete her Radiation Oncology residency at Western University in Canada, in June 2013. Her area of interest in clinical research is the use of imaging modalities to better understand the effects of radiation on neurocognitive dysfunction. In addition to her clinical research interests, she also has a focus on policy work. In 2008, she took a year’s leave of absence from residency and pursued the MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing offered as a joint program by the LSE and the LSHTM in London, UK. She completed projects in cost-effectiveness analysis and also had the opportunity to intern at, a healthcare think tank, working on pricing regulations, health technology assessments and uptakes. She developed an interest in the organization and management of health systems and is currently spearheading a project that uses computerized discrete-event simulations to improve efficiency within a cancer center. She has won awards for academic and research achievements during her undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, during her medical studies at the University of Ottawa in Canada and her graduate studies in London, UK as well as during her residency training at Western University. She has also had the opportunity to work in hospitals throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
